The journey of Dr. Jack as an Ophthalmologist and a dentist is quite interesting. But, another attention-grabbing fact about him is that he is also a successful entrepreneur.  He has worked with numerous commercialize technologies over the period of his career.

Firstly, Jack Kavanaugh has worked to create the next-generation medical treatments with the Calhoun Vision company. In 1999, he met Bob Grubbs, who is a future Nobel laureate and got inspired by his great values. Later in 2000, he joined the Materia, Inc., and served his services as a board member. This technology is used to create resins and catalysts for industrial use and the main aspect of Materia, Inc. is famous for the licensed Nobel-prize-winning technology.

Role of Dr. Jack at Materia Inc.;

He has raised the funds to commercialize Grubbs technology for the company which is helpful to produce metathesis catalysts and state-of-art resins. From 2002 to 2012 Materia set a good mark on numerous main accomplishments.  With the hard work of Dr. Jack and the Materia team, they received a grant from the National Institute of Health Phase 2 Fast Track Small Business Technology Transfer in May 2012.

This technology is recognized by the success of its Phase 1 efforts and makes their further plans to scale up the operations and continue to develop the polymer process.  After all this success, the company expanded the partnership with the University of Kansas Paul Hanson that also helps the company with its work.

Materia got an extension of 10 years of its previous records of the existing distribution deal with Sigma – Aldrich Corporation in August 2012. Sigma offers more than 12 metathesis catalysts developed by Materia. All these achievements made 2012, a successful year for Materia, Inc. Basically, Materia’s Proxima structured a complete thermo set system which is designed to facilitate the next–generation fused structure that is resistant to fatigue and less expensive than their antecedents.

Dr. Jack Kavanaugh is a successful medically based businessman, who also actively provides his service to social welfare programs. He also supports various charitable programs in Los Angeles along with his wife, Leslie.
